Latin Leaders is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of personal information we keep as well as the steps we take to safeguard it.

The following principles apply to the personally identifying information we ask for and that you provide. “Personally identifying information” is information that individually identifies you, such as your name or email address.

Members

• We keep your first and last name. This information is used to personalize communication to you as well as display references to you throughout the web site, such as meeting roles. Only Latin Leaders members are able to view your full name. Guests will only be able to view your short name, which is usually just your first name and the first character of your last name. You are able to customize your short name in your member profile. For example, you may want to replace the default name with your nickname.
• We ask for your phone number. Your phone number is used to display your contact information for other members to contact you. This is useful in such cases as when the Toastmaster must contact you to confirm your role for the next meeting. Guests to this web site will not be able to view your phone number. This is optional and you are not required to provide your phone number.
• We ask for your email address. Your email address is used to display an alternate contact information for other members to contact you. It is also used to verify your account and transmit your login and password information. Guests to this web site will not be able to view your email address. Your email address is required to set up your account.
• A password is required for a member account. The original plain text password is not stored on this site unencrypted so it is not possible to recover the original password if it is forgotten. For the safety of other members, we ask that you maintain a secure password. A proper password will consist of a mixture of upper and lower case characters and numbers or symbols, and should be at least eight characters long. Please do not share your password with anyone including other members.

Cookies

• When you log in to the Latin Leaders website, a cookie is sent to your browser to establish your login session. The cookie contains a number that uniquely identifies your session within the computer system so that you do not need to enter your password for each page that you want to visit. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies. You do not need to accept cookies when visiting the website as a guest, but cookies are required if you are going to maintain a logged in session.

Information sharing

• We do not rent or sell your personally identifying information to other companies or individuals for any reason whatsoever.
• If you have an account, your personal information is used only for the purpose of providing content on this site for the use of other members.
• We may only provide your personally identifying information to law enforcement personnel only if we conclude that we are required by law or have a good faith belief that access, preservation, or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Latin Leaders, its members, or the public.

• We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure, or destruction of data.
• We restrict access to your personally identifying information to members who need to know that information in order to perform their functions.
