Quote of the Day

"The maxims of men reveal their characters."
   - Luc de Clapier

Today is Monday, Sep 06, 2010

We meet at the Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at 2130 E. Fourth Street, Suite 160, Santa Ana, CA 92705. Meetings will start at 6:30 PM and end at 7:35 PM. There is parking available in the rear of the building. For more information, please call 714-352-0312.

Latin Leaders is a Toastmasters International club which meets every Tuesday night from 6:30 to 7:35. Our club is bilingual. The first Tuesday of every month we hold the meeting in Spanish and encourage our members to do their presentations/table topics in Spanish, although it is optional and you may speak in either English or Spanish at any time. We strive to have two speakers every week and a table topics session to give an opportunity for everyone to practice speaking. Additionally, all members participate in meeting roles in an organized environment. Our focus is to improve leadership skills as well as speaking skills in a way that is enjoyable.
The feedback from most people who visit us (and most of them join us) is that our club is very supportive of all members, encouraging participation and providing positive feedback for the development of our members - but you should experience that for yourself. You are welcome to join us as a guest any time and let us know what you think. For more information email us at info@latinleaders.org, or just walk in on Tuesdays and we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Great Meeting, Everybody!

by @ March 18, 2008   9:39 pm.

I just want to thank everyone who came to the meeting tonight. I sure had a lot of fun, including my attempt to “renew” the way the Evaluations are held.

We had TWO Ice Breaker speeches tonight, both about “fire” in their own particular way, as well as a Speech Project 2 by Hector Gonzalez (keep up the good job, my friend).

Alberto presented a very touching, personal story of renewing, to say the least, and finding the positive in spite of circumstances.

Edgar broke the ice with a history of the Armed Forces, and I believe he kept it inspirational and poignant, without crossing into controversial territory… Well Done!

The evaluations were clear, instructive and to the point, and President Nahetzin was superb at the Table Topics portion of our meeting.

Everyone did an excellent job, making for a very productive and inspiring Toastmasters meeting.

See you next time!

International Speech Contest

by @ March 12, 2008   6:10 am.

Congratulations to Nahetzin Velasco and Veronica Garfias, winners of the club’s speech and table topics contest. They will be representing Latin Leaders at the Area contest on March 29 at the Irvine Ranch Water District. Everyone is invited to attend and cheer on your club members. Our contest was especially challenging today because we were not able to use our regular meeting place due to a conflict with a book signing event at the bookstore. We held our contest in a small corner of the main bookstore and our speakers needed to really project their voices over the large crowd of voices in the room to be heard. A special thanks and congratulations to Pat Gary and Marty Cruz who are the runners up in today’s contest. Great job everyone!
