Today’s meeting: Creating Opportunities to Grow

by @ January 30, 2008   4:30 am.

Fellow Toastmasters:

We had 7 members and a guest attend today’s meeting.  It’s amazing to see three new Toastmasters at our meeting continue to participate in the meetings and improve their public speaking skills.  Cristina Villa ran the meeting, had an agenda prepared, and also put the tables and chairs away!  Ramon Diaz ran the Tabletopics portion of our meeting and did a wonderful job.  Jose Vasquez volunteered to be the timer and gave a detailed explanation regarding his role.

Sal Zamarripa gave a speech titled “Power of the Pitch” and spoke about how a speaker’s deep voice can improve one’s credibility.  A deeper voice is always better than a high-pitched voice.  He mentioned that a public speaker should strive to speak in a deeper voice to reduce one’s stress and to improve one’s power over his audience.  Changing one’s low pitch can occur overnight!

Martin Cruz/ Todd Swain gave detailed evaluations.  We missed our President Nahetzin Velasco and our Governor Dan Cossack.  We look forward to seeing all of you at our next meeting.

Regards

SGZ
