Latin Leaders is a
Toastmasters International club which meets every Tuesday night from 6:30 to 8:00.
Our club is bilingual. The first Tuesday of every month we hold the
meeting in Spanish and encourage our members to do their presentations/table topics in Spanish, although it
is optional and you may speak in either English or Spanish at any time. We strive to have two speakers every
week and a table topics session to give an opportunity for everyone to practice speaking. Additionally, all
members participate in meeting roles in an organized environment. Our focus is to improve leadership skills
as well as speaking skills in a way that is enjoyable.
The feedback from most people who visit us (and most of them join us) is that our club is very supportive of
all members, encouraging participation and providing positive feedback for the development of our members -
but you should experience that for yourself. You are welcome to join us as a guest any time and let us know
what you think. For more information email us at info@latinleaders.org,
or just walk in on Tuesdays and we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
This meeting I have completed my last advanced speech to achieve the ATM Bronze award. The speech was a team presentation that I coordinated with two other persons, Nelson and Cesar. The topic of the presentation was the development of the Latin Leaders web site and its benefits for both visitors and members. I think the presentation went very well and we also received excellent evaluations from Nahetzin and Beatriz. Thank you to everyone who participated.
At the end of the meeting, we also voted to replace Carlos as VP Membership. I will be taking over that role and assisting Nahetzin with the Club Success Plan and our goal of President’s Distinguished Club this year.
Congratulations to Nahetzin Velasco, the winner of the Tall Tales Speech contest, and Beatriz Delgado winner of the Evaluation contest. Our club contest was a big success. Everyone did a great job in handling each of the roles during this event. A special thanks to all of the contestants who made this contest so fun. Carlos Ortiz was the runner up in the Tall Tales contest. In the Evaluations contest, Salvador Zamarripa took second place, and Todd Swain took third place. Elena was the test speaker for the Evaluation contest and did her manual speech in English. Way to go! You were all fabulous.
