Quote of the Day

"The truth is more important than the facts."
   - Frank Lloyd Wright

Today is Friday, Jul 30, 2010

We meet at the Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at 2130 E. Fourth Street, Suite 160, Santa Ana, CA 92705. Meetings will start at 6:30 PM and end at 7:35 PM. There is parking available in the rear of the building. For more information, please call 714-352-0312.

Latin Leaders is a Toastmasters International club which meets every Tuesday night from 6:30 to 7:35. Our club is bilingual. The first Tuesday of every month we hold the meeting in Spanish and encourage our members to do their presentations/table topics in Spanish, although it is optional and you may speak in either English or Spanish at any time. We strive to have two speakers every week and a table topics session to give an opportunity for everyone to practice speaking. Additionally, all members participate in meeting roles in an organized environment. Our focus is to improve leadership skills as well as speaking skills in a way that is enjoyable.
The feedback from most people who visit us (and most of them join us) is that our club is very supportive of all members, encouraging participation and providing positive feedback for the development of our members - but you should experience that for yourself. You are welcome to join us as a guest any time and let us know what you think. For more information email us at info@latinleaders.org, or just walk in on Tuesdays and we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hello Everyone,

I tried to edit the meeting and was unable.  The theme of this weeks meeting is “Exceeding Expectations” and the WOD is “Courage”.  It seems all the other assignments have been arranged.  I will prepare documentation.

Toastmasters Meeting August 8, 2006

by @ August 9, 2006   11:11 am.

Nahetzin was our Toastmaster for the evening, establishing  a fun filled, smooth flowing, yet serious meeting.  Her topic of the day dealt with family and reaching out to those you love.

Our new member, Fryda, presented her Icebreaker speech.  She provided remarkable insight into the views of how her family and the Hispanic culture in general perceive life as growing up, getting married, raising kids and having that white picket fence mentality - and how the norm is not what she is seeking.  She shared with us her desires, her wants and her ambitions of working in the field of international business.  You go girl!

Her speech was preceded by Nelson’s fantastic evaluation.  Nelson, also a new member to our club seems very experienced in public speaking- Note to Nelson:  the pen! (just kidding)

Beatrice was Table Topics master and had some thought provoking questions which ”hit the nail on the head” and had our members really thinking and providing interesting responses.  Duty masters did an extra-ordinary job - and watch out for that grammarian.  Kudos to all!  See you next week.

Toastmaster Meeting - August 1, 2006

by @ August 4, 2006   8:11 am.

We had another wonderful meeting. There were three new guests that attended the meeting: Sandra, Rosa, and Emmanuel. It is so exciting to see new folks who strongly desire to improve their lives by overcoming their fear of public speaking. Welcome new guests! If you decide to join our club, you will see your public speaking skills improve dramatically.

Our meeting was conducted in mainly in Spanish. Nelson and Beatrize delivered two wonderful ice-breaker speeches and they are a nice addition to our club. Carlos O. and Dan gave constructive feedback to the speakers. Also, Pat ran the evaluation portion of the meeting in a efficient and professional manner. Pat, your speaking skills have improved greatly! You exemplify what a person can accomplish in Toastmasters.

Nahetzin, great job with Tabletopics. You always seem to use your creativity with this role. Oh yes, that picture you showed me was lovely!

Where was I, oh yes, at the end of the meeting the executive board met to discuss some important issues. I will assign a mentor to each new Toastmaster. I will be calling you within the next few days to provide you the contact information of your mentor. Your mentor will help you with your speeches or anything else that you need to help you prepare for your speeches or other roles.
Have a great weekend,

Salvador Zamarripa
