Quote of the Day

"The maxims of men reveal their characters."
   - Luc de Clapier

Today is Monday, Sep 06, 2010

We meet at the Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at 2130 E. Fourth Street, Suite 160, Santa Ana, CA 92705. Meetings will start at 6:30 PM and end at 7:35 PM. There is parking available in the rear of the building. For more information, please call 714-352-0312.

Latin Leaders is a Toastmasters International club which meets every Tuesday night from 6:30 to 7:35. Our club is bilingual. The first Tuesday of every month we hold the meeting in Spanish and encourage our members to do their presentations/table topics in Spanish, although it is optional and you may speak in either English or Spanish at any time. We strive to have two speakers every week and a table topics session to give an opportunity for everyone to practice speaking. Additionally, all members participate in meeting roles in an organized environment. Our focus is to improve leadership skills as well as speaking skills in a way that is enjoyable.
The feedback from most people who visit us (and most of them join us) is that our club is very supportive of all members, encouraging participation and providing positive feedback for the development of our members - but you should experience that for yourself. You are welcome to join us as a guest any time and let us know what you think. For more information email us at info@latinleaders.org, or just walk in on Tuesdays and we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Leadership

by @ May 18, 2006   6:29 am.

May 16, 2006.  The theme of this meeting was Leadership.  I talked about how I believe that the Toastmaster’s program is more than just a program to learn to become better public speakers.  It is a program where you also learn valuable leadership skills.  These are valuable because we rely on leadership skills in our everyday lives, at home and at work.

Enriqueta gave her second speech and talked about how Toastmasters is already making improvements in her life.  Well it shows.  She certainly has made a significant improvement since her first day of table topics.  She is much more confident and I can see that she will eventually become a very accomplished speaker.

Patricia gave her fifth speech on the topic of internet predators and reminds us that we need to keep our eyes open and protect our children.  This topic is certainly timely as this subject is quickly gaining a lot of media attention lately.  It is certainly a big problem and more people need to become aware of what’s happening.

We finished with a very fun table topics session as Graciela presented us with some everyday situational conversations.  I’m sure everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.  Great to see everyone there despite having to move this meeting to another location.  Special thanks to Nahetzin and David for lending us their dance studio for the evening.  I know many of you love to dance so make sure you visit the dance studio often and let yourself loose.
