Greetings fellow Toastmsters:
Due to the darn rain, yesterday’s meeting had a low turnout. There were six people there; however, the show had to go on. The positive thing is that there were two new guests that showed up: Fernando and Magdalena. Both of them were brave enough to participate in tabletopics and both commented that they are interested in joining the club.
David gave an impromptu speech about Isaac Newton and the theory of motion and how it is applied to business. We must keep in motion to things we may not be comfortable doing such as speaking and that “going through the motions” is important because it will allow us to make mistakes and that is OK because this process will build confidence… Great impromptu speech and he did a wonderful job with running the “show” and making it flow very smoothly. Thanks David!
Harry gave his icebreaker speech in Espaņol. He spoke about his part-time job as a statistician for the Chivas USA soccer team, his full time in the Freight business, and his love for soccer. He will be giving his speeches in Spanish as he wants to improve his Spanish fluency. Excelente Harry.
I hope to see all of you next week and I will leave you with the following quote:
“A winner is someone who sets their goals, commits themselves to those goals and then pursues their goals with all the ability that is given to them. That requires someone who beleives in themselves, who will make self sacrifices, work hard, and maintain the determination to perform at the best of their ability.”
